Diya's first week in New York was a complete nightmare. Her fears of sharing a room with Neel were put to rest rather anticlimactic, as only a few hours after their arrival 'home', he took off with Rishabh to fix some business and she hadn't seen him since. Shruti was nowhere to be found either and Neel's indisposed mother, Sudha Raina, was always confined to her bedroom which was on the other side of the house. Therefore, Diya was incredibly bored and felt so lonely that she spoke with Ananya almost every day and couldn't wait for her to visit her soon, as promised.
